Maria’s Diary is a journal created to support Ukrainian girls as they transition from childhood to adolescence, offering a personal and safe space to explore thoughts, emotions, and everyday discoveries. Written in Ukrainian to ensure closeness and clarity, it gently introduces the topic of menarche and the physical and emotional changes that accompany it.
Developed together with Fem Tech Ukraine, Charitable Foundation RIDNI and National Agency for Humanitarian Aid ZDOROVI and through the contribution of many Ukrainian women, the diary adapts the WeWorld tool to the Country’s context.
In a context where the war has further limited access to safe, gender-responsive hygiene services, Maria’s Diary aims to promote dignity, knowledge, and empowerment — reflecting WeWorld’s commitment to integrating gender mainstreaming into all WASH interventions, as highlighted in the Her Future at Risk study (July 2025).
