The situation in Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine, after the start of the Russian invasion in 2022, has been nothing short of devastating, both socially and demographically.
Despite the challenges, Kharkiv’s settlements and residents have shown remarkable resilience and will of redemption.
The images at the link below, taken from November 2024 to January 2025 near to three years of the invasion, seek to tell the story of these places and these people.
”KHARKIV – Among the Ruins” is part of the project “RISE UP. Integrated Response of Support to the Emergency in Eastern Ukraine”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented by WeWorld and its local partners in the Kharkiv and Donetsk Oblasts. With this intervention WeWorld, that is present in Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict in 2022, aims to improve the living conditions of refugees, displaced persons and returnees by promoting access to timely and integrated services, with a focus on the most vulnerable groups: in particular women, children, disabled persons, and the elderly.
